Traditional ridge tiles sit on a bed of mortar. Over the years that mortar cracks and washes out, the tiles start to rock, and in a Fylde coast gale they come off altogether. A dry ridge system fixes every ridge and hip tile mechanically with clips and screws over a ventilated roll, so there is no mortar to fail and the roof space can breathe.
We fit dry ridge on new roofs as standard and retro-fit it on existing roofs where the ridge has failed. On one street we installed 65 new dry ridge units in a day, right across the road from a full re-roof we were already running.
A dry ridge is one of the best value upgrades you can make to a tiled roof. It ends the cycle of re-bedding ridge tiles every few years.

Our method
How we fit a dry ridge system
- Lift the old ridge. Old ridge tiles are lifted carefully and the old mortar is cleared away.
- Fix the ridge batten. A ridge batten is fixed along the apex to take the new fixings.
- Lay the ridge roll. A ventilated ridge roll is laid and sealed to the tiles on both slopes.
- Fix every tile. Each ridge and hip tile is clipped and screwed down, with no mortar to crack.
- Check and clear up. Every fixing is checked from end to end and the site is left clean.
